I bought this for her as a gift. I have never used one of these bluetooth speakerphones, but have heard great things about them, and figured that now is better than ever to give it a shot. As always, the product arrived promptly from Amazon. The packaging was small, easy to open, and displayed the product quite nicely. When you open the package, you find the speakerphone, a USB cable, a car charging adapter, and instructions. The device was not only easy to set up (the phone detected it immediately), but was already charged so she could use it immediately!
The device is great! It has easy to reach/press buttons for volume control, and the speaker itself is a button. When you turn on the device, it literally tells you that it has connected to the phone, this way there is no question, and no having to remember such things as 'two beeps means connected' 'one beep means disconnected' etc. I had her go out for a drive while I called her so we could test it out. To answer, she simply had to push on the speaker, which is its own button. I was impressed! Not only could I hear her clearly, I actually had to tell her to speak in a normal voice since it literally was as if she was on the phone and not on speaker. Road noise is non existent, and the connection quality is amazing.
I am very happy with my purchase, the price is amazing, and when you consider that this is the safest and legal way to use your phone in a vehicle, it really cannot be beat.
The Pros: The build quality is pretty good, the clip is a solid piece of metal so I doubt it will break when moving it from car to car or removing it. The buttons seem pretty sturdy, they wobble a little bit but that is to be expected. Battery life is good, I've yet to charge it and it is still going strong. Call quality is also good, I can hear people clearly and they seem to be able to hear me. This unit has a powerful speaker and passengers are able to hear the call as well. It can become a bit distorted at max volume, but that goes for any speaker really.
The Cons: Once this unit loses connection, you must power cycle the unit to regain connection. This can be solved by turning it off as you exit the car, and turning it on as you enter it (Which also will extend the battery life). Some people see this as a hassle, I don't mind it as much. I've had a few troubles getting it to stay connected to both my music and phone, but I believe this is a phone issue (Galaxy SIII). I use this for sports talk radio as I'm driving thru my phone to get out of market stations, and I can hear it pretty well with the windows open, but you really need to have them closed to hear it at full effect. Music quality is not that great, but most people will play music thru the car stereo so this isn't a big qualm.
Overall I would reccomend this product, however if you dont need the media play feature, I would reccomend the SuperTooth Buddy Bluetooth Visor Speakerphone Car kit-Black . It has dual microphones and apparently less connectivity issues.
When on a call I can hear clearly and no one has ever complained of not being able to hear me. It is very easy to answer a call, end a call, redial, or turn the volume up or down without taking your hand off the wheel but for a quick second and without looking. The first day I got it, I found that I focused on it a lot but after that I use it without thinking. It operates just like the Jabra earpiece so if you already have one of those, you don't need to re-learn anything.
It stays in place on the visor and does not move around.
The Jamba DRIVE does many things well: it connects to my iPhone very simply and easily (though sometimes I need to turn it off/on when I get back into the car), the sound is decent (I've listened to podcasts/music from my iPhone), and apparently others can hear my pretty well when I'm on a phone call (no one has said anything about not being able to understand me). However, what I hear when I'm on a phone call is nothing like the sound that comes out when listening to music/podcast, or even the woman's voice that says "connected" when I first turn it on. I have a very hard time hearing because of the clarity of the sound and the noise around/in my car as I'm driving.
I really liked the idea of not having something in my ear for hands-free-phonecalls, but I think I'm going to have to go that route because of this experience. Not a bad device, just didn't work out well for me.
Top reviews from other countries
The only negative point I can give it is the small noise alert that notifies you when battery is low as mentioned in other reviews but so far not that much of a dramatic drawback .
Honestly no complaints here and really my first experience with Bluetooth dongles. Good purchase and happy about the quality of the product. Worth a look !
